A Leg To Stand On Takes Rocktoberfest Virtual for 2020

New York based non-profit A Leg To Stand On (ALTSO) announced today that it will be hosting this year’s London, Chicago, & New York Rocktoberfest fundraising events via one combined virtual event on October 22nd, 2020, gathering supporters virtually from around the globe. The event will be held from 7pm to 9pm EST and is open to the public to register and attend.

ALTSO’s Virtual Rocktoberfest, as done at the historic in-person events, will feature bands made up of leaders from the financial services and hedge fund industries for a night of rock ‘n roll. The event brings together colleagues, clients, friends, and family in honour of ALTSO’s mission to provide free, high-quality prosthetic limbs, orthotic devices, and appropriately fitted wheelchairs to children in emerging market countries. This year’s event will also raise critical funding for the organization’s COVID-19 Relief Fund.

ALTSO Executive Director Gabriella Mueller-Evrard said: “We knew that we can not let the shift in our ability to safely gather prevent us from rocking for good and bringing life-changing treatment, and the necessary PPE to do so, to children whose families earn less than $3 a day, on average. Our responsibility to those we serve has never been more critical.”

ALTSO’s COVID-19 Relief Fund was launched in order to provide much needed sanitizing equipment and PPE to their patients, and program providers. “It was important that we never made our CoolKids compromise between choosing their health or their mobility,” said AJ Warco, ALTSO’s Director of Programs.

The virtual spin on the charity’s signature event will be generously hosted pro-bono by virtual events platform Afterparty, and will feature interactive elements like a GIF-making photo booth presented by long-time sponsor PhotoBooth, family friendly trivia & games, and, of course, amazing rock music by ALTSO’s advocates! 100% of the night’s net proceeds will benefit ALTSO’s CoolKids through their programs in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Laos, Nepal, Pakistan, Somaliland, and Uganda.
