Alcentra Bolsters Senior Leadership Team
Credit/debt specialist Alcentra has appointed Joe Cantwell as Co-Chief Investment Officer, Liquid Credit. Cantwell will chair the US Liquid (Loans and High Yield) Investment Committee and will be a member of the Special Situations Investment Committee. Based in New York, he will also be a member of Alcentra’s Executive Management Committee.
After 13 years at Alcentra, Graham Rainbow has been in discussions about reducing his hours to focus on the credit side of his role. He remains actively involved in the business, with a new role whereby he remains on all Investment Committees and continues to offer his credit expertise to the funds, as well as maintain client interaction.
Jonathan DeSimone, CEO at Alcentra commented: “The appointment we are announcing today is the next step of our strategic long-term plan to support our continued growth, as we align the leadership of our liquid credit platform towards increasingly global and diverse needs. We see ourselves as dynamic credit partners, and place great importance on hiring the best talent in order to help deliver superior risk adjusted returns to our partners.
I am thrilled to welcome Joe onboard; he will bring a great combination of investing experience, judgment and leadership skills to our team. As part of our long-term succession plan, we have worked closely with Graham in his transition into a new role in which both the business and our partners will continue to benefit from his deep expertise and knowledge.”
Rainbow will work closely with Cantwell over the next six months to hand over day-to-day business management responsibilities and Cantwell will assume the role of CIO, Liquid Credit at the end of Q1 2022. At the same time, Daire Wheeler, who has been working closely with Rainbow on the European loan portfolios for several years, will become the lead portfolio manager for these strategies. He has been a portfolio manager on these funds since 2018 and has 17 years of experience in the industry.
